Teacher, Student, Seeker of Balance sharing along the way
Hello and thanks for visiting! I’m Amy, and like you, I am both a teacher and a student every day. I am grateful to teach a variety of subjects, including yoga, mindfulness, essential oils, and Spanish. I am a Pennsylvania native and have been practicing using all of these empowering tools for many years.
I’m a constant seeker of balance in my own life and enjoy nothing more than weaving all of these passions together and sharing them via classes, workshops, writing, and more to serve others as they bring balance to their lives, too.
I also love infusing these gifts into my work as a public school educator. I am a strong believer that I teach not only a content area – I teach kids. Kids are ultimately trying to figure out this crazy thing we call life, too, and that involves so much more than learning how to conjugate a Spanish verb.
I began my Spanish teaching career in the Pocono Mountains, teaching high school for 7 years. I started my yoga journey when a friend and fellow teacher invited me to take Kripalu yoga classes after school with a group of colleagues. Since my move to Carlisle, PA in 2007 to teach Spanish at the middle school level, I have felt a strong connection to this town and the surrounding communities.
Here I found a yoga community that has changed my life and deepened my practice. I am truly grateful for all of my teachers along the way who inspired me to continue to dive into this practice and study. I feel strongly that yoga and mindfulness can benefit anyone and that these skills are especially important to teach to today’s youth.
Incorporating these practices, alongside using essential oils and other natural solutions to take care of myself each day has brought me such joy and gratitude and contributes to me living a bountiful and balanced life…most days, and it takes work!
In addition to holding a Bachelor of Science and a Masters degree in Education, I received my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification through Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts.
I’m currently continuing my study with Pranakriya, pursuing my 300 hour certification. I am also trained in Kids and Tween Yoga through Yogi Beans studio in New York City. I have studied with Mindful Schools, completing courses including Mindful Educator Essentials, Mindful Communication, and Mindfulness and Difficult Emotions. I enjoy taking yoga classes with a variety of teachers, reading, and traveling – especially to go on retreats to take time for myself and experience the growth that happens as a result.
