Beat the Holiday Hustle

by | Balance for Educators

As the holiday season is now completely upon us, I wanted to share some of my own reflections with you.

First, a question for you: How can you beat the holiday hustle and have a heart-centered holiday? I’m asking myself the same thing.

A line from the Hallmark movie Next Stop, Christmas recently caught my attention, especially as I was contemplating what holiday message I wanted to share with my Balance For Educators community.

Here it is:

“This time of the year everyone is in a rush.  But this is the time of year to slow down and take in all that is around you.”

I invite you to check out the video below where I share some more recent reflections and offer you some food for thought about how you might reframe the “holiday hustle.”

What ideas do you have for ways to stay out of the humbug and into the heart centered?

Share with me below!

I’ll be back in touch with some more tips for the season and would love to share some of your strategies with our community, too!

#1. Stop with all the gifts for independent adults and many kids on your list too. Spend time together instead. Go out to eat, see a show, get a salon or spa service together. Take kids to the same or go to a climbing gym or ice skating & lunch. We adults all have too much stuff already, & my adult nieces still talk about my taking them to plays & sleeping over when they were little & don’t recall a single toy or “lovingly selected” tree ornament I gave them.

Thanks for sharing, Jennifer! I love a great experience gift, too. That is what I have always given my niece and nephew for Christmas and their birthdays. When it comes to receiving, I always want people to know that I appreciate them thinking of me, of course, yet I don’t need or want any more “things.” The older I get, the more I want to clear the clutter from my life in any way possible!
